Tuning Your Guitar


Tuning your guitar is most essential if you want to hear a good musical sound and want to make the most out of your learning. Tuning should be done regularly. This may seem a tedious and a tough job for you as you are a beginner hence it is advisable to ask someone who is already knows to play guitar well and can do it for you. You can simply learn the tuning technique and after a lot of practice and patience you can do it by yourself.

There are various methods to tune your guitar, of which, all the methods help you to give you the desired tuning. But then some methods may be easier than others. For the beginners this is a very fruitful suggestion.

Tuning pegs help you to tune the guitar perfectly and to get the correct notes. Tightening or loosening the pegs helps you to adjust the strings in a manner such that it plays the right note. A higher pitch is produced upon tightening the pegs on the headstock, and loosening these pegs will lower the pitch.

There are inexpensive electric “guitar tuners” available in the market and these guitar tuners are helpful for the beginners. The electronic tuners are capable to analyze the note produced by plucking the string. It displays the result by showing that the note produced is either too low or too high. These electric tuners are of great help to the beginners as they are just not in a position to know when the string is out of tune and at this point the electronic tuner helps to tune the guitar accurately and quickly.

A guitarist who is a beginner and is performing and trying to play it alone, for them simple and suitable tuning techniques are the best. As and when you get the practice of playing the guitar in a group, you can use other tuning techniques which will prove to be helpful.

There are also several ways to tune your guitar by yourself. If buying an electronic guitar is beyond your budget or if you don’t want to purchase one then tuning guitar personally is advisable. Some methods of tuning it include relative tuning, tuning with the help of a piano, pitch pipes, keyboards, tuning forks, intervals and harmonics.
